Tony De Luz

Sedona Arizona

Americana—the nation’s people and pastimes—is captured with a fresh grace by Tony De Luz, an Arizona-based painter and digital artist who hails from back East. Commissioned private collector vehicles, America's piers, Las Vegas, Sixties cars, Art Deco hotels, diners, carnivals, neon signage, and landscapes, along with honest portrayals of the folks who people them, benefit by De Luz’s warm palette and soft but graphic style via gouache, acrylics, and digital techniques.

De Luz’ paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries in the United States, including the Copley Society of Boston, Fort Point Artists’ Community in Boston and the Spiritwind Gallery in Sedona. The artist is one of four children born and raised in Boston. Tony graduated 1983 with a BFA from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM... the only member of his family to earn a degree.

Tony’s diverse background encompasses over 22 years experience. He is recognized as an accomplished watercolor artist, commercial illustrator, graphic designer, business owner and teacher. He has worked in advertising on very successful campaigns for clients such as John Hancock and Hyatt Hotels. In the realm of illustration, Tony has created artwork for Absolut Vodka ads and a 1992 First-Class postage stamp for the United States Postal Service, US Olympics Baseball, among many other highly visible pieces. Ad agency staff experience and publishing projects in Boston contribute to the artist’s ability to collaborate with art directors using time-tested skills in conceptualization, drawing, storyboarding, and lettering.

For 3˝ years, Tony owned De Luz Printing and Design, a printing and graphics business in Sedona. His company enjoyed a reputation for world-class graphic work and outstanding customer service. Tony has also been a very popular adjunct faculty member at Yavapai College’s Sedona Campus, teaching digital media to students at both the Dana Atchley Center for Digital Storytelling and the Zaki Gordon Film Institute.

When not painting in his art studio, Tony works as an illustrator. His work has been used internationally. He lends his unique graphic design and illustration talents to Greey Pickett, a community design landscape architecture firm in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Tony and Dana, his wife of 20+ years, have four children. The De Luz Family resides in Sedona, the location of Tony’s studio.
