Jason Ford
Juneau Alaska |
 |
Jason Ford is a young, established artist from Juneau, Alaska. As an
artist, he is self-taught. His paintings may be seen in galleries
through-out Alaska and in Arizona. His work ranges from photorealism
to the abstract, with a passion for progressive forms of art. He
enjoys working on many surfaces, including the usual canvas and
illustration board, as well as the less conventional… walls, wood
and even computer laptops.
As it relates to his body of work, Jason thinks of his work as
intuitive and eclectic. He often mixes media, preferring to work in
watercolors. Recently Jason has transitioned to acrylic as he finds
it a very versatile medium, allowing display of the properties of
watercolor or those of less viscous, buttery mediums such as oil
paints.
“I am fascinated by the qualities of light, by its power to
illuminate,” Jason muses. “I like to use an improvisational style,
combining many techniques to achieve my desired effect. Light not
only brightens, but darkens as well, and it is the use of contrast
that has enraptured me.”
Inspiration comes to Jason from varied sources, from the classical
architecture of the ancients, the mystical precepts of cultures long
vanished, and the wildlife and beautiful scenery just outside the
front door of his studio in Juneau, Alaska.
